A year of blessings

Though 2019 has been a very good year, one of many blessings, it was a journey of many ups and downs and a few curveballs (such is life, right?)! Through it all, God has remained the one and only constant, and for that, I am beyond grateful! A song that reminds me of His faithfulness is “The God Who Stays” by Matthew West.

You’re the God who stays You’re the God who stays You’re the one who runs in my direction When the whole world walks away You’re the God who stands With wide open arms And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart From the God who stays

Thank You, Jesus!

This year Faith Above my Ability has really taken off, and we want to take a moment to share what God has done with our organization and say a huge THANK YOU for your prayers and support!

Because of your prayers and support, Faith Above my Ability has been able to:

expand our support groups to include a women’s support group and parents support group. This is huge because so many people with disabilities and moms of children with disabilities need encouragement, support, and guidance of other people in different stages of life. At Faith Above my Ability we believe community is everything!

share our mission in Puebla where Jesus truly showed how we all have different gifts which make up the body of Christ as described in 1 Corinthians 12. Because your gift isn’t the same as your neighbor’s, doesn’t make it any less valuable!

facilitate meetings with state representatives, agencies, independent living centers, and school districts. This is important because we are all working towards the same goal, but we often don’t sit around the table and have real conversations.

hold our first table event to raise support and awareness of issues surrounding access and equality for people with disabilities

partner with @onethread_apparel @kards_by_kels and @stitchery4bits to create amazing merchandise (links below)

introduce our Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat accounts

create literature and offer trainings to promote inclusive work environments **please contact faithaboveability@gmail.com if you’d like to learn more about how we can help your organization!

introduce a house bill to help bridge the gap between disability status and services required to get and maintain employment, please join us in praying that this bill will be passed.

provide 35 healthy, home cooked meals to 11 families impacted by disabilities.

Again, ALL glory to God because there’s no way we could do this on our own!

💫In 2020, Faith Above my Ability asks you to continue surrounding us in your prayers as we move forward to educate, advocate, and create change surrounding issues of equality and access for people with disabilities while empowering abilities! In the upcoming year we have some BIG plans, and if you’d like to receive our monthly newsletter please email faithaboveability@gmail.com with your preferred email address!

Inclusion is beautiful la inclusión es hermosa

** Перевод на испанский и русский. ** Traducido al español y al ruso. As we come to an end of the month and national disability inclusion month, I wanted to make some comments on the topic. Inclusion

Having a disability is exhausting

This is something that I have been thinking about for a while, and have only discussed with my two closest friends. Today I read an article posted by The Mighty (see below) that justified my thoughts.
